Addis Ababa, 16 December 2013: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, strongly condemns the heinous terrorist attack perpetrated, on Saturday 14 December 2013, against forces of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) in Kidal. This attack resulted in the death of two soldiers and injured several others from the Senegalese contingent of MINUSMA.
The Chairperson of the Commission presents her sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the United Nations and the Government of the Republic of Senegal, and wishes speedy recovery to the injured.
The Chairperson of the Commission reaffirms the support of the AU to MINUSMA in pursuit of its mandate in Mali, and its determination to vigorously pursue, in close cooperation with the countries of the region, the fight against terrorism in all its forms.
