comments Addis Ababa, 13 March 2014: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU), Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, is closely following the latest developments in Libya. She is deeply concerned by the continued instability and insecurity in the country.
The Chairperson reaffirms AU’s support to the efforts aimed at stabilizing the security and political situation, strengthening state authority throughout the national territory, and ensuring the early completion of the ongoing transition. In this respect, she stresses the need for all concerned to cease all activities that further complicate the situation.
The Chairperson appeals to all the Libyan stakeholders to resolutely commit themselves to settle their differences by peaceful means and to work towards national dialogue and reconciliation.
The Chairperson reiterates AU’s continued commitment and readiness to support the efforts of the Libyan people and Government to complete their democratic transition and address the other challenges facing them.
