Addis Ababa, 20 January 2014: The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union (AU) Dr. Nkozasana Dlamini Zuma, is undertaking a visit to Juba, South Sudan, today 20 January 2014. The visit will provide an opportunity to consult with the South Sudanese authorities on the situation in South Sudan and AU’s efforts in support of the mediation process led by the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The AU delegation includes the Commissioner for Peace and Security, Ambassador Smaïl Chergui, and other AU officials, as well as representatives of IGAD. The visit is part of the follow-up to the relevant decisions adopted by the AU Peace and Security Council on the situation in South Sudan.
