The Constitutionalism and Rule of Law Unit within the Directorate for Governance and Conflict Prevention of the Department for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the AUC, organized the second experts meeting in Bissau, the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, from 28th to 31st July 2025, as part of the implementation of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG) project which aims at mainstreaming the principles and values of the ACDEG into school curriculum in AU Member States. This meeting came as a follow up to the country launch event and the technical meeting organized from January 13th to 16th, 2025 in Bissau.

The opening ceremony was presided by Dr. Herry Mané, Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research of Guinea-Bissau. The AU Commission was represented by Amb. Calixte Aristide Mbari, Head of the Division for Democracy, Elections and Constitutionalism. The representatives from the national institute for educational development alongside senior officers and experts from the Ministry, international organisations and development partners were also in attendance.

The Minister expressed his satisfaction on the level of implementation of the project in Guinea- Bissau. He affirmed the unwavering commitment of the Government to facilitate the smooth implementation of the project in the country. Addressing the meeting on behalf of Amb. Bankole Adeoye, the AU Commissioner for political Affairs peace and Security, Amb. Calixte Aristide Mbari commended the country for the sustained effort in implementing the project and encouraged all participants to remain committed.

The activity received support from the European Centre for Electoral support (ECES) through the pro electoral integrity project phase III.
